Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful answers about our home minding, pet visits, security checks, key handling and booking process across Warrington.

Who runs Home Minders Warrington, and how long have you been operating?

Home Minders Warrington is a proud, local family-run business managed by myself and my son, Aidan. We are long-term local residents who have lived and worked right here in the Warrington community for over 13 years, building a reputation based entirely on hard work, reliability, and trust.

Are you background-checked and vetted?

Yes, absolutely. Trust is the absolute foundation of our business. I hold a fully Enhanced DBS Disclosure and Barring Service clearance. This is the highest level of criminal record vetting available in the UK, giving you total reassurance when handing over your house keys. We also hold pet sitting insurance and public liability cover for further peace of mind.

What services do you offer during a standard house drop-in visit?

Our standard visits are completely flexible depending on what your home needs. We can collect your post, manage your wheelie bins on collection days, open and close blinds or curtains, water your indoor plants, check your boiler or heating system, and perform general external security property sweeps to give your home a secure, lived-in appearance while you are away.

What types of pets can you look after?

We specialise in small household pets and smallholding animals that prefer staying in their own comfortable environments rather than stressful boarding facilities. This includes cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, reptiles, birds, indoor fish tanks, and outdoor garden ponds.

Do you look after specialised animals or livestock?

Yes. As experienced poultry keepers and tortoise owners ourselves, we are uniquely qualified to look after chickens, smallholdings, ducks, and tortoises. We understand specific husbandry requirements, including secure coop lock-ups at dusk, fresh water flushes, egg collection, predator checks, and exact dietary setups for reptiles.

How much do your property and pet-minding visits cost?

Our standard drop-in visits start from just £8.50 per visit for bookings of 7 days or more. Because we operate on a transparent, flat-rate model rather than a multi-tiered package system, any additional chores or multiple pets can be added on for an affordable, flat rate of just £2 per add-on.

Do you look after large dogs or offer overnight house-sitting?

Our core service is built around daily drop-in visits, welfare checks, property security, and small pet or smallholding care. Because of our current daily schedules across Warrington, we do not offer overnight stays or comprehensive dog-walking packages at this time.

How do you handle my house keys securely?

Your keys are stored securely, confidentially, and completely separate from any of your personal data or property addresses. We use a blind coding system so that in the highly unlikely event a key is misplaced, it can never be traced back to your home. Keys are returned to you strictly according to your pre-arranged instructions once you are safely back from your trip.

What happens if an emergency occurs while I am away?

Before you drop off your keys, we ask you to complete a thorough onboarding sheet. This includes collecting your emergency contact details, preferred local tradespeople, such as your trusted plumber, and your local veterinary surgery details. If we spot an issue, such as a leaking pipe or an unwell pet, we act fast, contact you immediately, and manage the situation using your pre-authorised instructions.

Which areas of Warrington do you cover, and how do I book?

We cover the entirety of Warrington and its surrounding residential villages, including Great Sankey, Stockton Heath, Lymm, Grappenhall, Culcheth, Appleton, Irlam, Cadishead, Newton-le-Willows and Birchwood. To secure your holiday or weekend getaway dates, you can call us directly on 07866778893 or fill out the quick booking form online.
